preparation-of-papers

The Proceedings of the 29th International Symposium on Remote Sensing of Environment will be printed by photo-offset from the copy prepared by you. Prepare your paper using a word processor and a laser printer, directly on 215 mm x 27.9 mm (8 1/2 x 11 inch) paper, or A4 paper. No changes will be possible after submission of your manuscript. You must use the double column style specified. Please adhere to the style guidelines below so we may maintain uniformity in the final printed copy of the Symposium Proceedings.

General Instructions

  • The manuscript that you prepare will be photographed and printed as it is received. Neatness is of paramount importance.
  • No faxed versions will be accepted.
  • The enclosed sample paper contains detailed instructions and guidance.
  • The length of your paper must be limited to 4 pages (without payment) and cannot exceed 6 pages.
  • Use dark black ink. Do not use blue, green, brown, or any other color in either the text or illustrations. Colors will not reproduce correctly. We are not printing in color.
  • You should use the enclosed Paper Template to verify that the layout of each of your pages is acceptable for reproduction and binding, regardless of how you produced them. The sheet will be particularly useful for authors using typewriters and a reducing copier.
  • Page Margins should be as follows: Top 30 mm, Bottom 20 mm, Left 30 mm, Right 25 mm.

Important Details

  • All manuscripts must be single line-spaced, in the specified two column format.
  • Table 1 of the sample paper gives the point sizes and characteristics required for titles, author's name, headings, tables, etc.
  • The abstract should be about 100-150 words, thus shorter than the abstract you submitted previously.
  • Number each of your submitted pages on the back in light pencil: "1 of 6," "2 of 6," etc.
  • Tables: Tables must fit in a margin of 16.5 cm. Leave two lines above and below the table. No table may exceed one page. The word Table should have the first letter capitalized and must be followed by an Arabic numeral and a period. The period should be followed by two blank spaces and the table title should be single-spaced. Use the full width of the column for the table title. Footnotes in the tables should be indicated by lower-case letters as superscripts in the body of the table. The footnote should begin with the corresponding lower case letter followed by a period. Tables should appear throughout the text. Do not group them at the end of the paper.
  • Illustrations: Illustrations must appear within the designated margins, but may span the two columns. Add a caption and number to every illustration. All halftone illustrations (pictures) must be clear black and white prints. Line drawings may be made in black ink on white paper. Send originals and not photocopies, ozalids, blueprints, hectos, etc. Authors who wish to include color illustrations for the CD version of the proceedings may submit an additional copy of thier paper with the color images. All authors must submit a version of their paper with illustrations in black and white to be included in the printed version of the symposium proceedings. Graphs and other numbered figures must fit on page width (16.5 cm). Leave two lines above and below the figure. The title word must have the first letter capitalized and must be followed by an Arabic numeral and a period. The period should be followed by two blank spaces and the table title should be single-spaced. Use the full width of the column for the figure title. Figures are to be indicated in the text as follows: “…As we see in Fig. 4, the finite difference method…”. Figures should appear throughout the text. Do not group them at the end of the paper.
  • It is important that your printer produce clean, high-quality output, since there will be no sharpness-enhancing reduction of your document. Do not use a dot matrix or other low quality printer.

oral-presentations

The oral presentations have been organized into primary and technical sessions. Chairs have been appointed for each session. The Chair will introduce the four speakers of each session. Oral presentations are strictly limited to 15 minutes.. You should therefore prepare for a presentation of maximum 15 minutes with the possibility of having to reduce it by a few minutes. The Chairs have been instructed to be firm on the time allotment and will give a warning signal 2 minutes before termination of presentation.

A Speakers’ Room will be available at the Panamericano Hotel with appropriate audio-visual equipment should you wish to have a dry-run of your presentation. Presenters using 3½ inch stiffie disks(1.44 Mb) must have it scanned for viruses in the Speaker’s Preparation Room at the Symposium Hotel. Each presentation venue has the requested audio-visual equipment. You are urged to visit the venue prior to your presentation to set up your slides, overheads or video tapes.

Presenters are requested to ensure that all visual material is of good quality. Please note that videotapes should be NTSC or PAL standard. One laptop computer (with the latest version of powerpoint) connected to a data projector will be available in each session room.

All presenters are requested to present themselves at the scheduled venue ten minutes prior to the start of their session, for a briefing by the Session Chair.

poster-presentations

The poster sessions will be a vital part of the Symposium's technical program and will provide authors with the opportunity to interact with colleagues. The Technical Committee has, therefore, as a prime activity, included two poster sessions in the daily schedule to give authors the opportunity to present and debate their papers.

Authors are requested to mount and remove their posters at the specified times as follows:

The ISRSE Secretariat will prepare poster panels by affixing the session and poster number to the top of each panel.

Posters consisting merely of a copy of the paper will not be accepted by the Technical Committee.
